BARNALA: Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Saturday gave a call to the people of Punjab to wipe out AAP and SAD from the state’s electoral scene in the ensuing assembly polls in the state.
Addressing a rally in Barnala, he said it was clear that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Capt Amarinder Singh and Badals had been working hands in glove to barter the interests of Punjab for their own agains, be it agriculture, industry or the common public.
He asked the people to identify politicians bent upon exploiting them emotionally. Chiding AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal for making claims of providing financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to every woman above18 years of age, he asked the Delhi CM to reveal how many women he had extended a similar benefit to in the national capital.
Channi said people of Punjab were wise enough and won’t be betrayed by false promises. He said AAP and Kejriwal had been exposed when it came to non-performance as “11 out of 20 AAP MLAs had already shifted to other political parties”.
He said NRIs had also realized that AAP had been making hollow claims.
Channi asked Kejriwal to specify how many farmers had got the facility of loan waiver or free power in agriculture sector in Delhi. Training guns at SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal, Channi said the Sukhbir, his father Parkash Singh Badal and wife Harsimrat Kaur Badal had been instrumental in getting the farm laws passed by the Centre because SAD passed the Contract Farming Act 2013 in Punjab assembly.
Channi asked Sukhbir to desist from threatening police and civil officers as they were discharging their duties with diligence and it was none of his business to cow them down. Channi said he would not be buckled down with SAD’s announcement of protesting at CM the residence. “It is time for them to face the music for misdeeds during a decade of misrule and for the unpardonable acts of sacrilege,” he said.
